Track of the Day: Spooky Folk- Rare Bird

(Note: Due to the sheer number of submissions we receive there is no way we can give each and every album the attention (and word count) they deserve, but we can devote time to at least one song from each. So we started this feature to give worthy bands, and their music, a spot to shine. We hope this helps you discover new and exciting acts, and as always if you enjoy the music please make an attempt to support the artist by either attending a show or buying a record. Also, occasionally one of our favorite bands does something new, and we geek out about it.)

Local act Spooky Folk has been getting a lot of attention since they helped open the Smoke restaurant wayyy back in August, and now with their spot on the Western Vinyl showcase at NX35 looming in the future we learn that the band plans to release a full-length in conjunction with that performance. We’re proud to offer up a quick peek at what to expect from the band’s first release.
Spooky Folk- Rare Bird

Verdict: So, I just got home from the Granada after a night of complete and utter psychedelia that featured Warpaint absolutely murdering me (and the entire crowd), only to check my inbox and see this track along with another, and I proceeded to listen to it on repeat for a solid hour. This proves that no matter what mindset you’re in, a good song will grab your attention and hold it till it’s ready to release you. That’s what’s great about Spooky Folk, they hold your ears hostage and you never complain.

(If you liked this wait till later when we post a second track in our massive NX35 playlist.)
